This Law enters into force 180 days after its regulation.
Abstract

This Law, consisting of 22 articles, provides for the Plant Sanitary Protection within the State of Rio Grande do Sul. The promotion of the agricultural policy concerning the control of pests and diseases that may compromise plant health will be achieved through the adoption of technical and administrative measures, with the following objectives: preserve and ensure the quality and health of plants; maintain state service of phytosanitary surveillance, aiming at the prevention, control and eradication of plant pests and diseases; develop an effective epidemiological surveillance system; develop educational actions aimed at prevention, encouraging the participation of the community in the actions of plant health protection; make compatible the measures to be adopted with the norms and principles of protection of the environment and conservation of natural resources, as well as of preservation of human health.
