Abstract This Law amends Law No. 1.283 to provide for the process of inspection of artisanal food products of animal origin. Amendments deal with the authorization to market food products produced in a traditional way, with their own traditional or regional characteristics and methods, using good agricultural and manufacturing practices, subject to the supervision of public health agencies of the States and the Federal District. The artisanal product will be identified, throughout the national territory, by a unique seal with the indication ARTE, according to the regulation. The registration of the establishment and the product referred to in this article, as well as the classification, control and inspection of the product, with regard to hygienic-sanitary and quality aspects, shall be carried out in accordance with the norms and established in this Law and its regulations. The requirements for registration of the establishment and the product covered by this article should be adequate to the size and purpose of the enterprise and registration procedures should be simplified. The inspection of the elaboration of artisanal products with the ARTE seal should have the priority.
