This Law enters into force on the day of its publication.
Abstract

The Law, consisting of 11 articles, establishes that the conservation, protection, regeneration and use of the Cerrado Biome within the State shall also comply with the provisions of the environmental legislation in force, in particular Federal Law No. 4.771 of 15 September 1965 on the Forest Code. Only native vegetation shall have their use and suppression regulated by this law, which shall not apply to the areas occupied by pastures formed by exotic species, by agricultural crops and by planted forests, subject to the provisions of the federal legislation. This Law prohibits the suppression of vegetation in any of area of the Cerrado Biome when it shelters flora and fauna endangered species included in the following categories as defined by International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN): a) regionally extinct (RE); b) critically endangered (CR); c) endangered; d) vulnerable (VU); it functions as a protection of springs and recharge of aquifers; it forms corridors between primary or secondary vegetation at an advanced stage of regeneration; it is located in an enclosure area of ​​an integral protection conservation unit and presents a protective function of the biota of the protected area as defined in the management plan; it possesses exceptional landscape value, recognized by the Public Power; it is located in priority areas for the preservation and creation of conservation units determined by official scientific studies or acts of the public power in specific regulations.
