Abstract The present Law establishes the conditions for the use of land of defence. Plots of land destined for the accommodation and permanent functioning of military units, institutions, military educational institutions, enterprises and organizations of the Ukrainian armed forces and other military formations set up in accordance with the Ukrainian legislation. Military units by agreement with local self-government in conformity with the modalities established by the Cabinet of Ministers can concede out of the stock of land allotted thereto in permanent tenancy to natural and legal persons the plots of land for growing agricultural crops, grazing and haymaking (Article 4). The Law consists of 7 Articles Article 1 specifies the concept of land of defence. Article 2 establishes legal status of land of defence. Article 3 establishes areas of special land use. Article 4 regards land use for economic activity. Article 5 regards environmental protection and ecological safety on land of defence. Article 6 establishes liability for the infringement of the legislation on use of land of defence. Article 7 lays down final provisions.
