Abstract This Law, consisting of 8 articles, provides for the State Control System on Sanitary and Industrial Inspection of Animal Products (SECIS) within the Rio Grande do Sul State. It establishes the rules governing industrial and sanitary inspection and control of animal products and by-products within the State according to Law No. 8.109 of 19 December 1985. The exercise of central organ system functions is under the competence of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply (SAA). The central organ of SECIS can edit normative instructions detailing specific procedures, subject to the provisions of this Act. The central organ of SECIS to propose the necessary control measures on animals affected by infectious diseases, as well as on the actions relating to monitoring animal health, should keep updated records of all companies that industrialize and commercialize animal origin products in the State.
