Abstract

This Law establishes procedures for environmental licensing to extract mineral substances and defines the criteria for the exemption of Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Impact Report (EIA/RIMA). FEMARH, due to its nature, characteristics and other peculiarities of the activity of extraction of mineral substances for immediate use in civil construction (as described in Annex I) will exempt the presentation of the Environmental Impact Assessment and the Environmental Impact Report (EIA/RIMA), granting the environmental licensing of these projects, based on the analysis of their Environmental Control Reports (RCA's) to be carried out according to the references described in Annex III. The Law does not contemplate the activities of extraction of coal and metallic ores.
