Abstract This Law creates the State Policy for Solidarity Economy in the State of Paraíba. It establishes definitions, principles, guidelines, objectives and composition of the Policy with a view to fostering the solidarity economy and to insuring the right to associated and cooperative work. The guidelines, principles and fundamental objectives of the State Policy are integrated with the general strategies of sustainable development and social investments, aiming at promoting self-managed economic activities, solidarity economic enterprises including producers who work in family farming and agroecological-based urban agriculture, etc. and their integration in cooperation networks in production, commercialization and consumption goods and services. The objectives and axes of the state solidarity economy policy will be the basis for the formulation and execution of the state solidarity economy plan that will aim to establish, in a participatory and democratic way, a set of guidelines for the consolidation and development of the solidarity economy policy in the state of Paraíba, constituting an agenda for implementing articulated proposals and an instrument of social control.
