Abstract This Law creates the Policy for Beef Goat Production in the State of Paraíba aiming to regulate and encourage the production of beef goats in the state of Paraíba. The specific objectives of the Policy are: promote the production and consumption of goat meat; carry out controls and inspections on the production; promote the development and competitiveness of the production sectors with a view to technical and economic viability; integrate the different sectors that make up the goat production chain, with the development of economic and technological cooperation networks; intensify management, with efficiency in productivity and profitability; regulate slaughtering and trading of goat farming products, aiming to improve the quality of products offered to the consumer, providing for food security, reducing informal slaughter and combating animal rustling; encourage the artisanal processing of products from goats; encourage research, technical assistance and rural extension, for the technological modernization and management of the productive chain of goat farming; improve the genetic material of animals, with the development of more productive breeds, adapted and capable of generating products of better quality for the consumer; make productive investments aimed at meeting the demands of the goat market.
