Abstract

This Law creates the certification of origin for "Quilombola" products, from areas already recognized or in the process of recognition, within the State of Paraíba. The objective of the Quilombola Products Certification is to: guarantee the safety, integrity and quality of products originating from recognized quilombo areas or in the process of recognition within the State of Paraiba; add value to the quilombola's agricultural and artisanal production, based on the appreciation of the origin of these products; expand the generation of work and income in quilombola agricultural properties; improve the collection of municipalities with an agricultural economic base, where the quilombos are located; preserve the geographical, historical, cultural, social and economic characteristics and identities of the producing regions; create brands for products from recognized quilombola communities or in the process of recognition; meet the demands of institutional purchases by City Halls and the State Government for products from quilombola family farming.
