Abstract This Law creates the State Policy for Incentive to Agroindustry, with the aim of promoting: the creation of new agroindustrial enterprises; the regularization of informal agroindustry; the agroindustrial competitiveness of the State. For the purposes of this Law, agroindustry is the segment of the production chain that transforms raw materials from agriculture, livestock, aquaculture or forestry into semi-processed or industrialized products. The principles and guidelines of the State Policy of Incentive to Agroindustry are: socio-economic, and environmental sustainability of the rural productive chains; reduction of regional disparities by encouraging the deployment of agroindustries in regions not suitable for large plants; generation of jobs and income at the local level; raising labour productivity; innovation, modernization and technological development; health and food safety; simplification of administrative procedures; etc. The State Policy will be implemented through specific plans and programmes, formulated according to the needs and particularities of the different types of food industries.
