Abstract The present Law regulates legal, economic and organizational issues pedigree stock breeding for the purpose of conservation and development of genetic stock and pedigree stock. The Act determines the rights and the duties of state institutions, enterprises, scientific institutions, collective farms and state agricultural enterprises, peasant farms and entrepreneurs, including the foreign ones, engaged in pedigree stock breeding. State enterprises, cooperatives, peasant farms and other subjects of pedigree stock breeding in possession of licence issued by the state pedigree service are authorized to carry out pedigree stock breeding (art. 2). The state guarantees to pedigree stock breeding enterprises allotment of land, water resources, material and technical means, and finances. Land, pedigree stock of state pedigree stock breeding enterprises shall not be subject to division and privatization. (art. 4). Genetic fund protection enterprises, embryo collection centres, semen and ovule collection centres shall be set up, proclaimed national reserve centres and financed out of the state budget in conformity with the decisions made by the Government. The state shall guarantee the protection of selection achievements and the breeders’ rights (art. 5). The Law consists of 12 Articles.
