Abstract

This Law, consisting of 10 articles, provides for definition and standards for Plant Protection in the State of Paraná. Plant Sanitary Protection is a fundamental instrument for agricultural production and productivity, and as a consequence, it is the responsibility of the State, through the State Secretariat for Agriculture and Food Supply (SEAB), to define and implement the standards for Paraná. The Executive Branch, through the SEAB, shall establish procedures, practices and prohibitions necessary for Plant Protection, including the eradication of pests, diseases and invasive plants; and destruction of plants and plant parts under the consideration of the competent authorities. The Plant Health Protection will be carried out: through programmes, projects and campaigns to prevent, control and combat pests, diseases of plants, parts of and invasive plants, prescribing quarantine obligations and strategic policies for Paraná agriculture; by rules and standards establishing phytosanitary procedures and cultural practices, to the full extent.
