This Law enters into force on the day of its publication.
Abstract

This Law establishes the State Food Bank and Public equipment for food and nutritional security, within the State Secretariat for Social Development (SEDES) within the scope of intersectoral strategies for reducing food losses and waste. The Bank aims to collect food for distribution, directly or through registered entities, to people or families in a state of social, food and nutritional vulnerability, endorsed by the Specialized Social Assistance Reference Center (CREAS). The main purposes of the Food Bank are: proceeding with the collection, reconditioning and storage of products and foodstuff, provided that in conditions of human consumption, coming from: a) donations from commercial establishments and industries, linked to the production and/or commercialization of products and foodstuff; b) apprehensions by Municipal, State and Federal Administration bodies, safeguarding the application of their own legal and regulatory rules; c) donations from public bodies or individuals or legal entities; d) donations from rural producers and/or traders; e) acquisition through the Food Acquisition Programme (PAA).
