Entry into force notes: This Law enters into force 30 days after its publication.

Abstract: This Law, consisting of 148 articles divided into five Titles, establishes the Basic Policy on Environment of the State of Acre. It establishes the basic norms for the protection, conservation and preservation of natural environment and natural resources in order to improve and protect the quality of human mankind. The following fundamental principles will be observed for the implementation and monitoring of the Environmental Policy of the State of Acre: the life of the human being as the basis of environmental issues; the search for a guarantee of the quality of life of the populations without compromising the standard of living of future generations; minimize the environmental impacts of productive environmental activities; conservation and/or preservation of life support systems and biodiversity, in areas considered critical for their existence, based on technical and scientific studies; scientific and technological research directed to the sustainable management of natural resources; multidisciplinary approach to environmental issues; unity and continuity of environmental policy and management in time and space, without prejudice to the decentralization of actions.
