Abstract

This Law creates the Unified State System for Agroindustrial, Family, Artisanal and Small-Scale Food Safety (SUSAF/MA) aimed to promote the equivalence of the Municipal Inspection Service (SIM) with the State Inspection Service (SIE) through the standardization of monitoring and inspection procedures, aiming at guaranteeing the Food Safety, integrity and the quality of the final product, as well as the sharing of responsibilities regarding public health. SUSAF/MA has the following purposes: carry out systemic and decentralized municipal inspection services; outline the basic guidelines for Family, Artisanal and Small-Scale Agroindustrial Food Safety; produce and edit recommendations and instructions, through specific technical documents; monitor municipal inspection services in the State of Maranhão; grant authorization for the release of commerce, as well under the criteria defined by SUSAF/MA; organize and maintain registration information of small-scale family agro-industries in the State; grant use authorization and manage the quality seal.
