Abstract

This Law creates the State Policy to Encourage the Cultivation, Extraction, Marketing, Consumption and Transformation of Bocaiuva and other Oleaginous Palms (Pró-Bocaiuva). This Policy aims at promoting the integration of communities that traditionally exploit these palms, by encouraging the use and rational management of these palm species, and transform their activity as an alternative to family farming and agribusiness, complying with the requirements for environmental sustainability. The Policy guidelines are: identify areas where there are communities that traditionally live from bocaiuva and other oleaginous palm plantations; create incentive mechanisms for the preservation of the areas of palm species susceptible to be cutted; create mechanisms so that community cooperatives or other associations, may use legal reserve areas in their properties for collecting bocaiuva fruits and other oleaginous palm trees; develop, research and experiment the production of seedlings, planting, management, harvesting, processing and marketing of fruits of bocaiuva and other oleaginous palm trees, as well as products, by-products and derivatives of these palm trees, improving its quality; disclose the nutritional and medicinal components of bocaiuva and other oil palm; encourage the commercialization and industrialization of these palms, through its processing, by-products and derivatives, aiming at their use for various purposes; create a certification model that identifies the production area and certifies the quality of products, by-products or derivatives of these palms; create mechanisms to promote the commercial planting of these palm trees, through financing with funds from state financial institutions; encourage the creation of integration projects between the producer and the industry.
