Abstract This Law, consisting of 6 articles, establishes the permanent protection of Caryocar brasiliense, known as Pequi or "souari nut" fruit tree species. Tree logging is permitted only when necessary to the implementation of public interest works, plans, activities or projects, through specific authorization, issued by the competent environmental institution and the reforestation of 25 planting material, catalogued and identified as the same tree species, within the territory of the State of Minas Gerais.
