Abstract This Law, consisting of 30 articles, establishes plant and animal protection measures within the State of Tocantins. This Law establishes sanitary requirements to be satisfied by plants and animal in order to carry out phytosanitary measures, including necessary actions and activities aiming at preventing and avoiding the introduction and dissemination of pests and diseases, with the objective of guaranteeing and preserving the quality and safety of plants and animals, through technical and administrative mandatory measures. The Plant and Animal Protection is carried out by the Agency for Agriculture and Livestock Sanitary Protection of the State of Tocantins (ADAPEC/TOCANTINS).
