Abstract

This Law prohibits the release of dyes in rivers, lakes, reservoirs and other freshwater bodies within the State of Mato Grosso, and establishes a classification of dyes as environmental contaminants. This prohibition results from an industrial process. The fact to add a substance whose action merely removes the colour of the effluent does not exempt the source of pollution from the prohibition described above. The discharge of dyes into the receiving body will only occur after due treatment, which will comply with the conditions, standards and technical requirements applicable to contaminating substances and will be given under the supervision of the environmental body, pursuant to Complementary Law No. 38 of 21 November 1995, who will certify the lack of toxicity of liquid waste.
