Abstract This Law regulates legal, economic, social and organizational bases of tourism. Tourism shall be classified as follows: (a) recreational; (b) cultural; (c) ecological; and (d) social (Art. 4). In Turkmenistan shall be kept state register of tourism resources (Art. 8). Main targets of state regulation of tourism shall be environmental protection (Art. 12). In Turkmenistan shall be delimited by administrative and territorial boundaries national tourism areas (Art. 18). Tourism shall be subject to licensing (Art. 23) and certification (Art. 24). Tourism shall be regulated by written tourism service contracts (Art. 30). The Act consists of 11 Sections divided into 50 articles: (1) general provisions; (2) state regulation in the sphere of tourism; (3) national tourist area; (4) tourism activity; (5) contracts concluded by the subjects of tourism activity; (6) tourism economy; (7) excursionism and accommodation facilities; (8) tourism staff; (9) protection of environment and cultural heritage in the process of tourism; (10) international tourism; and (11) conclusive provisions.
