This Law enters into force on the day of its publication.
Abstract

This Law, consisting of 16 articles, divided into two Chapters, creates the "Maranhão Verde" Programme, aimed at promoting and developing projects to support conservation and environmental recovery. The Maranhão Verde Programme has the following objectives: I - to encourage and promote the recovery and conservation of ecosystems; II - to improve living conditions and increase the income of the extreme poverty population that carries out activities of conservation and recovery of natural resources in the defined areas; III - to encourage the participation of its beneficiaries in actions of environmental, social, educational, technical and professional training. The execution of the Maranhão Verde Programme will be under the responsibility of the Secretary of State for Environment and Natural Resources. The Programme covers the following activities and projects: I - training of the local population; II - production of seedlings of native species; III - preservation, restoration and recovery of areas; IV - environmental monitoring and evaluation.
