Abstract This Law establishes legal, organizational and economic basis for ensuring quality and safety of foodstuffs and is aimed at protection of public health through application of mandatory provisions to legal persons and individual entrepreneurs performing processing, handling, packaging and trade of foodstuffs. National policy in the sphere of ensuring quality and safety of foodstuffs shall be based upon the following principles: (a) prevention of import of poor quality and hazardous foodstuffs; (b) authorization of trade of exclusively high quality and safe foodstuffs; (c) realization of state programs for ensuring quality and safety of foodstuffs; (d) state supervision and control in the sphere of quality and safety of foodstuffs; (e) state registration of foodstuffs and packaging materials for foodstuffs; (f) certification of foodstuffs; (g) information of the population of quality and safety of foodstuffs; and (h) international cooperation.Article 9 shall be amended to add the following wording: “In case of detection of substandard or dangerous foodstuffs, materials for packaging food products during their production, legal entities and individual entrepreneurs are obliged to immediately suspend their production for the period necessary to eliminate the reasons that led to the production of these foodstuffs. If the reasons that led to the production of these foodstuffs and food packaging materials cannot be eliminated, the manufacturer is obliged to stop their production, withdraw them from circulation, ensuring the return of such foodstuffs, materials and products from consumers, organize in the prescribed procedure examination, disposal or destruction thereof.” Full text Russian Website www.minjust.gov.tm References - Legislation Repeals Law on quality and safety of foodstuffs.
