Abstract This Law, creates the State Policy of Medicinal, Aromatic and Spice Plants and Phytotherapeutic Medicines within the State of Mato Grosso under the State Secretariat for Family Farming and Land Affairs (SEAF). The objectives of this State Policy are: integrate governmental agencies and society in the implementation of initiatives related to medicinal, aromatic, spice and herbal plants as well as phytotherapeutic medicines; promote scientific research, technological development and innovation of medicinal plants, condiments and herbal medicines throughout the production chain; stimulate the training of staff directed to studies and the use of medicinal plants; stimulate planning of agroecological production and the cultivation of medicinal plants, the entire production chain and the commercialization of medicinal plants; promote, disseminate and guide the health-medical user community regarding this State Policy in the State of Mato Grosso; promote the state policy within the Unified Health System (SUS), in line with the National Policy of Medicinal and Phytotherapeutic Plants. The implementation of this State Policy will observe the traditional cultures, structuring the productive chain and integrating health, environmental and scientific-technological issues for regional and local development.
