This Law enters into force on the day of its publication.
Abstract

This Law, consisting of 8 Chapters, establishes the State Policy on the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension for Family Farming and Agrarian Reform of the State of Maranhão (PEATER/MA) and the State Programme of Technical Assistance and Rural Extension for Family Agriculture and Agrarian Reform of the State of Maranhão - PROATERES. The objectives of these initiatives are: to qualify and universalize the ATER within the State of Maranhao; to contribute to sustainable rural development; to promote the integration between ATER entities to optimize the performance of services and establishment, expansion and strengthening of ATER networks; to assist and support economic, social and environmental initiatives that consider the territorial and local vocations; to widen and improve the production arising from the activities and services agricultural and non-agricultural, including agro-extractive, forestry and craft; to increase the income of beneficiaries by adding value to products, marketing or through local markets, state, national and international; to promote the quality of life of its beneficiaries and beneficiaries; They aim at promoting sustainable rural development and improving the quality of life of the beneficiaries; supporting economic initiatives that promote regional and local potentiality, especially promoting endogenous development processes; increasing production, quality and productivity of agricultural, services and non-agricultural activities, including agro-extractive, forestry, fisheries, etc., respecting the principles of agroecology and sustainable development; advising the various stages of economic activities, business management, organization, production, market insertion and supply, including family farmers on the market; developing initiatives to use, manage, protect, conserve and rehabilitate natural resources, agricultural ecosystems and biodiversity; building sustainable production systems, considering the scientific and traditional knowledge, from agro-ecological foundations, etc. The beneficiaries of PEATER/MA are: indigenous peoples, quilombolas, pomeranians, traditional communities and urban and peri-urban farmers.
