The Law entered into force from the date of its official publication.
Abstract

The present Law regulates relations between consumers (of work, services) and executors, producers and traders thereof and establishes the mechanism of the realization of state protection of their rights. The Law consists of 3 Sections that contain 26 articles. Section 1 (arts. 1-2) lays down general provisions. Section 2 (arts. 3-24) establishes the consumers’ rights and the modalities of their protection. Section 3 (arts. 25-25) regards consumer associations. Sanitary inspection is authorized to carry out control of public catering and foodstuffs, including storage thereof, and take samples for the purpose of carrying out sanitary and hygienic expertise (art. 5). Expiry date must be specified on the label of perishable foodstuffs (art. 13). Information on commodities, including foodstuffs, must contain the following data: 1) compliance requirements (reference data of the respective normative legal acts); 2) contents (including other alimentary components or ingredients, and food additives); 3) contents of dangerous substances for human health. Foodstuffs packed and labelled in the Ukraine must contain information on the origin thereof (art. 18).
