Abstract: This Law makes amendments in several articles of the Fisheries Law. In preamble, “as well as aquaculture” shall be added after “fishing” and “fish resources” shall be changed as “fish and other aquatic biological resources”. In Article 1, fish resources, marine flora and fauna terms shall be changed as fish and aquatic resources, fish and other aquatic biological resources. Reproduction of fish and other aquatic biological resources, aquaculture, fish products, artificial habitat for fish and other aquatic biological resources and acclimatization of fish and other aquatic biological resources terms and their definitions are added to this Law. “Fish resources” shall be changed as “fish and other aquatic biological resources” in articles 2, 4, 11, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 23, 29, 31, 34, 35, 36, 39 and 42 of the Fisheries Law. “Nature protection” shall be changed as “environmental protection and quality management of fish products” in articles 2 and 16. “International treaties and conventions, and other international legal norms” and “cooperation agreements” shall be changed as “international agreements in which Azerbaijan becomes a party to” in articles 2, 9, 13, 21, 37 and 41. In Paragraph 1 of Article 4, “the objects of fishing operations are considered as fishes, other marine animals and plants, their caviar, larva and other products used as food products and raw materials” shall be changed as “the objects of fishing operations are considered as protected fish and other aquatic biological resources and other products used as food and raw materials”. This Law amends Article 3 regarding ownership of fish resources, Article 5 regarding state registration of subjects of fishing operations, Article 7 regarding main principles of the state policy in the area of fishing, Article 8 regarding duties of the state in the area of reproduction, use and protection of fish resources, Article 9 regarding forms of use of fish resources, Article 12 regarding aquaculture, Article 19 regarding increase of productivity of fish and other biological resources, Article 22 regarding duties and responsibilities of the state aquaculture service and Article 33 regarding financing of reproduction, restoration, protection of fish and other biological resources and development of fishing science.
