Abstract This Law, consisting of 37 articles divided into six Chapters and one Annex, creates the State Agency for Water Resources (AGERH), under the State Secretariat for the Environment and Water Resources (SEAMA). AGERH aims to perform the following activities: implement the State Policy on Water Resources; regulate the use of state water resources; promote the implementation; manage water infrastructure works and carry out hydrological monitoring in the State of Espírito Santo. In particular, AGERH is responsible for: implement the State Policy on Water Resources; institute integrated water resources planning; carry out technical and administrative activities on information, communication, at the state level; implement and keep up-to-date the State Water Resources Information System; implement the regulation of the right to use of surface and groundwater resources through the Granting of Right of Use; implement and operate Compensation in Water Resources; implement the Cadastre of Water Resources Users; exercise the functions of Water Agencies in support of the Basin Committees; plan and promote actions aimed at preventing and minimizing the effects of droughts and floods; draw up mapping on flood risk areas; carry out basic and executive planning of the waterworks for water collection and supply; promote the management and operation of public waterworks for reservoirs and supply at the state level; register State waterworks; control the use of water resources; carry out research and projects in water resources area, aiming at optimizing the use, maximizing the economic and social benefits resulting from the multiple use of water resources; promote training for water management; etc. Full text Portuguese Website www3.al.es.gov.br
