Abstract This Law creates the State Secretariat for the Environment (SEMA), with the purpose of formulating and implementing policies of the environment, water resources, cartographic and agrarian-land of the State as well as the Environmental Institute of Paraná (IAP), as an autonomous entity, with legal personality and administrative, financial and patrimonial autonomy, linked to the State Secretariat for the Environment. The objectives of IAP aim to: enforce environmental legislation, control, licensing and inspection; grant environmental licensing for forestry activities, works and services; authorize deforestation; propose standards for the protection of environmental quality; analyse and give opinions on environmental impact and risk assessment; design, implement and control plans and programmes for the protection and preservation of biodiversity, preserving ecological processes, ensuring the reproduction of wild flora and fauna; organize and maintain the State System of Conservation Units, preserving the diversity of genetic heritage and participate in the administration of parks and reserves of the municipalities or of the Union; executing and enforcing the forest recovery of permanent, degraded and conservation areas; supervise, guide and control the recovery of degraded areas by economic activities of any nature; promote, coordinate and implement formal and non-formal environmental education; carry out monitoring in particular on surface and groundwater resources, air and soil; promote the management of water resources and grant authorizations for the derivation and use of waters of state domain, including through the formulation of plans and programs and their implementation, aiming at their multiple and rational use; implement, administer and maintain the rural technical register of the State and its statistical-real estate; etc. Full text Portuguese Website leisestaduais.com.br References - Legislation Amended by Law No. 19.810 creating the State Plan for Planted Forests, linked to the State Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply.
