Abstract This Law, consisting of 7 articles, creates the State Policy for rainwater harvesting, storage and use within the State of Paraiba. It regulates the rainwater sector in order to allow regular supply to urban and rural populations. This State Policy aims to: establish guidelines and instruments to encourage the best use of water resources in relation to the harvesting, storage and use of rainwater; contribute to ecologically sustainable development; contribute to improving the efficiency in managing the use of water resources; contribute to precautionary actions and to minimize the problems caused by rain water storms and floods; contribute to precautionary actions and to minimize the problems arising from the effects of droughts.
