Abstract

The purpose of this Law is to establish the Fisheries Organization as a governmental institution under the Ministry of Agriculture. The main function of this Organization is to implement objectives of the Law of 13 September 1995 of Protection and Exploitation of the Fisheries Resources of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Organization is allowed to have branch offices only in coastal provinces. Policy making, planning, monitoring the sustainable exploitation of aquatic resources and maintenance of the fishing infrastructure are main functions of this Organization. The Act consists of 8 articles, sub-divided in 4 Chapters as follows: General Definitions and Principles (I); Objectives and Functions (II); Duties and Powers of the Chief (III); Miscellaneous Provisions (IV).
