Abstract

Forest areas are divided into two categories: (a) classified forest areas, which comprehend forests reserved for timber production or for preservation and areas for reforestation; and (b) protected forest areas, under which are included the remaining categories. As for the business of forest products and sub-products, the Kret establishes the conditions and terms for the issuance of a permit for timber logging and for the transport of timber. Moreover, it prohibits certain actions within the area, such as cutting down rare species of timber, extraction stone or sand, peeling, piercing, pruning trees with valuable resin, trees serving as insects habitat, etc. The lifting and taking care of drifting or floating wood stuck on the river banks shall be rewarded according to the procedure established by the Ministry of Agriculture. The latter shall make a hammer with inscribed the words "Forest Kampuchea" to be used as a stamp on wood permitted to be taken out of the forest or to give evidence of violation of the forestry law. The inspection and the search for forest offences as well as the powers connected therewith are entrusted to the Forestry and Hunting Authorities at all territorial levels. Final provisions concern the penalties to be inflicted in case of violation of the provisions made the present Kret.
