Abstract The Act concerns the valuation of land for rating, taxing and rental purposes. It consists of 302 sections divided into 10 Chapters. Chapter 2 is dedicated to valuation which is to be done by the valuer-general and includes valuation methodologies, land to be included in valuations, annual valuations and maintenance valuations. Chapter 3 concerns objections to valuations and Chapter 4 covers valuation appeals. Chapters 5 provides for internal and external reviews of decisions taken by the valuer-general. Chapter 6 requires the values-general to make and keep a valuation roll for each local government area. Chapter 7 provides for the establishment of the Office of Valuer-General, for the appointment of the valuer-general and for its functions and powers. Chapters 8 to 10 cover general matters about authorized persons, miscellaneous provisions, offences and transitional provisions.
