It does not apply to mining operqtions covered by the Mining Act. The Act places restrictions on such extraction and requires a permit to be obtained from municipal authorities. The Ministry of the Environment shall vcarry out supervision at the national level, whereas regional and municipal authorities shall carry out supervision at the local level. The holder of a permit shall report annually to the permit authority. There shall be attached conditions to a permit as specified. The Act also concerns the protection of water resources from extraction activities. When an application for a permit for extraction activities and an application for an environmental permit according to the Environmental Protection Act (527/2014) apply to the same project, the permit applications must be processed together and decided by the same decision, unless this is considered unnecessary for special reasons, an application for a joint permit is sufficient. An EIA may be required. Full text English/Swedish Website www.finlex.fi
