The present Act enters into force on 1 February 1988.
Abstract

This Act is divided into three Parts, as follows: Part I, Land Acquisition Branch; Part II, Land Value Appraisal Commission and Part III entitled General. The Land Acquisition Branch is continued under section 3 and is under the control and direction of the Minister. The Minister, through this branch, is in charge of all matters relating to the acquisition of land or to the expropriation of land by any authority. All costs incurred in the administration the Land Acquisition Branch, shall be paid out of the Consolidated Fund. Section 8 deals with acquisition and section 9 contains details on acquisition costs. Matters regarding expropriation can be found under section 10. The authority to sell buildings and improvements is provided for in section 12. The continuation and workings of the "Land Value Appraisal Commission" is set out in section 13. Compensation as a result of acquisition is dealt with in section 14. Finally section 17 deals with the Authority of a minister to delegate powers.
