Section 5 provides for the acquisition of private land by persons requiring such and not having been able to acquire the land by private agreement. In accordance with section 6, the Minister may issue an investigation notice in respect of land likely to be compulsorily acquired. Section 8 provides for notices of compulsory acquisition to be published in the Gazette and two daily newspapers. A Board of assessment shall be established to determine the right of any interested person and to assess, award and apportion compensation, and to rescind leases and apportion rent (sect. 15). Section 19 defines the nature of compensation and section 20 specifies non-compensable losses. Section 23 provides for the acquisition of leased land.
