Abstract This Knowledge Management Strategy for the Ministry of Agriculture is a nationwide sectoral document aiming at (i) maximizing the efficiency of using intellectual capital and activating and utilizing the knowledge to achieve the objectives of agricultural development in the Kingdom; and (ii) contributing to the process of creating ideas to implement management activities in the agricultural sector. The principles to be put in place to achieve the goal are (i) initiative and creativity; (ii) participatory and teamwork; (iii) effective management of intellectual and technological capital; and (iv) sharing knowledge with integrity and transparency. Main strategic objectives of the document are (i) enumerate and document explicit (that can be identified and expressed in words, numbers or symbols) and implicit knowledge (that is in people's minds and it is difficult to convey through writing or verbal expression) assets and make them available for use; (ii) develop the electronic infrastructure of the Ministry; (iii) create a proper environment to help knowledge and creativity sharing among the Ministry officials; (iv) spread awareness among the employees on the importance of knowledge management; (v) provide accurate and certified agricultural statistics and data; and (vi) develop tools to gather, authenticate, and disseminate the agricultural data.
