The Karachi Water & Sewerage Board Act, 1996 has been amended in 2015 to provide and maintain safe and secure water supply for drinking and domestic use to residents of Karachi. To assure smooth and uninterrupted flow from the source to destination and take stern action against water theft, illegal hydrants, outlet connections and damage to water trunks, measures for offences and penalties are inserted in the Act.
