An Act to constitute a certain area of land in the vicinity of the Kaiteur Fall on the Potaro River in the County of Essequibo a national Park and to provide for the control of the said park and for the preservation of the natural scenery, fauna and flora of the said park.

Abstract

This Act provides for the establishment of a national park for which a management board may be established by the Minister under section 3. Until such Board is established, the Commissioner of Lands shall manage the park. Section 3 foresees in the appointment of rangers. No person shall hunt or collect flora or carry out any other activities within the park except in accordance with Regulations made under this Act. The Minister may make rules for the carrying into effect of purposes of this Act. Powers of rangers are described in section 6. Nothing in this Act shall affect wildlife rights (fishing and hunting) of Amerindian people. (six sections completed by one Schedule)
