This Act shall take effect immediately.
Abstract

This Act makes provisions for the promotion of jute production and utilization, extension of cultivation, improvement of quality, development of jute industry and conduct of research activities and other necessary matters. The Government may undertake the following activities to encourage the production and promotion of jute and jute products, research and jute cultivation, namely : a) production, storage and supply of quality high yielding jute seeds; b) development of jute cultivation, marketing and extension activities of jute products; c) increasing the production of jute and jute products keeping pace with local and international market demand; d) formulation and implementation of land use plans for jute cultivation; (e) carrying out activities aimed at increasing the research, innovation, production and utilization of versatile jute products; f) strengthening and modernizing jute related information management activities; g) providing necessary information and assistance to jute growers; and h) provide necessary incentives and reward system for jute research, encouragement of jute cultivation and production, increase in consumption of jute products and creation of market; j) taking initiatives for market diversification through participation in international fairs.
