Abstract

This Law is composed of 51 articles. Terms and definitions are given in articles 1 and 2. Objectives of the Veterinarian Trade Union shall be to: contribute in laying down the agrarian policy concerning animal resources; increase the veterinary services; contribute in the planning and education in the veterinary field; activate scientific research; and, cooperate with trade unions in the Arab Countries (art. 4). Articles 5 and 6 set out requirements for the affiliation to Trade Unions, and specify the documents necessary for the application. It shall be prohibited to practice the veterinary profession without being affiliated to the Trade Union and before obtaining the authorization to practice the profession (art. 8). Article 13 lists cases in which veterinarians may loose the authorization to practice their profession (art. 13). Composition and competences of the General Assembly and the Board are given in articles 14-27. Article 34 establishes a committee for the evaluation of veterinarians' honorarium (art. 34). Articles 38-46 deal with offences and penalties, and financial resources.
