Abstract

The purpose of the risk assessment of toxic and hazardous substances is to assess and determine the risks to human health and the environment from chemical substances released during project activities and in the course of project implementation and to determine the consequences and measures to reduce them. This Procedure shall be applied to the assessment of potential risks to human health and the environment by citizens, enterprises, and organizations engaged in the production, use, storage, and disposal of toxic and hazardous chemical substances. The leader of the risk assessment team will officially notify the manager of the company that performs the detailed environmental impact assessment of the project about the start of the risk assessment process. After the issuance of the results of the chemical analysis conducted in the accredited laboratory, human health risk assessment and environmental risk assessment will start. The leader of the risk assessment team shall exchange relevant information with the members of the detailed environmental impact assessment team and ensure coordination of work. If the risk assessment team receives a request to reduce the risk, the project implementer will make changes to the project to reduce the risk to an acceptable level.
