Abstract

This Joint Order establishes that special water use permits shall authorize the holders to: (a) discharge treated industrial wastewater, municipal effluent wastewater, drainage and other treated effluent wastewater to surface water bodies and (b) conduct limited water abstraction of groundwater from 50 to two thousand cubic metres daily. The aforesaid permits set out basic terms and conditions for water use. Special water use permits shall be issued to natural and legal persons for short-term (five years) or long-term (from five to 49 years) management. Permits for limited water abstraction of groundwater shall be issued to natural and legal persons in possession of the following requisites: (a) availability of waterworks; (b) availability of water abstraction equipment and metering devices; (c) availability of water supply contracts with secondary consumers; and (d) a positive expert opinion on the quantity of groundwater deposits.
