Abstract

This Joint Order aims at establishing the designing of the Plan for Coastal and Adjacent Sea (POOC_M) Planning in the island of Boa Vista. The development of the POOC_M covers the entire coast of Boa Vista. The area of intervention of the POOC_M comprises the island of Boavista, integrating a terrestrial zone and the adjacent maritime zone. The land area corresponds to a strip of 1,500 metres from the maximum high-water line, measured horizontally to the land side, the adjacent maritime zone corresponds to a band with a width of 3 nautical miles from the topographic zero measured horizontally to the sea side. The terrestrial zone referred to in the previous number may be reduced, by justification presented, and can not be less than 500 meters. The coastal and adjacent sea planning aims to regulate the criteria for the occupation and deployment of infrastructures, the safeguarding and protection of territorial, environmental and patrimonial resources and values, and to guide the use of identified marine resources.
