Abstract

The scope of this Regulation shall be to protect surface water and groundwater by preventing water pollution and mitigating the consequences thereof. Water pollution indicators shall be established for monitoring of changes in water composition, which may result in risks human life and health, livestock and aquatic animals’ life and health and plant growing conditions. Discharge of household and industrial wastewater to waterbodies shall be prohibited. Good quality surface water in accordance with classification by sanitary and hygienic conditions shall be used for household water supply. Discharge of any waste in the upstream lakes, reservoirs and ponds. It shall be prohibited to dispose industrial and household waste in sanitary protection zones of potable water supply, to discharge any liquids containing petroleum, petroleum products and toxic chemicals and any unknown (unidentified) substances. Constant monitoring of water level, water abstraction, water quality and composition shall be performed by the competent authority with a view of protecting groundwater deposits from pollution by industrial water from drilling, mining and boreholes. Industrial sewerage, treatment and disinfection facilities must comply with the following requirements: (a) purification of effluent waste water discharged by residential areas, industrial enterprises and service organizations; (b) combined treatment and removal of industrial waste water; and (c) separate purification, recycling and disinfection of industrial and service waste water.
