Abstract This Decision establishes the requirements to be satisfied to fish for highly migratory species of bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus BFT), bluefin tuna (Thunnus alalunga ALB) and swordfish (Xiphias gladius SWO). It specifies that fishing authorizations should be issued according to the following conditions: 1. professional fishing carried out by Greek flag vessels in the coastal zone and in international waters; 2. in accordance with European, national legislation and international conservation measures adopted by the International Commission for the Management of Atlantic Tuna (ICCAT) and aimed at the conservation and sustainable exploitation of these species. 3. fishing vessels must comply with the Community system for monitoring through rules of the Common Fisheries Policy and with national measures to control fishing activity. Conditions for fishing these fish species shall be subject to the related fishing permit in accordance with Article 7 of Council Regulation (EC) No. 1224/2009. Fishing in international waters shall also require the supply of a vessel authorized in international waters issued by the Directorate-General for Fisheries in accordance with Decision No. 4023/64557 of 2014 (B 1307) of the Minister for Rural Development and Food, laying down terms, conditions, documents and procedure for the approval of fishing licenses for fishing vessels, as amended. The fishing authorization is valid for one year to a specific vessel (and owner) and shall not be transferred.
