Abstract

This Joint Decree sanitary rules and regulations for combating and prophylaxis of ornithosis – an infectious disease common to birds, poultry and human beings. Veterinary specialists must ensure: (a) strict observance of veterinary, sanitary and zoohygienic instructions for poultry farms and poultry products processing enterprises; (b) optimal conditions for keeping and feeding poultry; (c) timely diagnostics of the disease and isolation the source of the outbreak of the disease and the source of infection; (d) increase in resistance and prevention of infection of newly-born poultry from external environment; (e) timely and qualitative disinfection; (f) quarantine for 30 days of imported decorative birds and regulation of the number of pigeons; and (g) mandatory, timely and complete deratization and disinsection.
