Abstract

Article 1 of the above-mentioned Act establishes that the Japan Sewerage Works Agency shall, at the request of organizations such as local governments, conduct construction work as well as operation and maintenance of fundamental sewerage facilities, provide technical assistance related to sewerage, and promote development of sewerage system through activities such as fostering of sewerage engineers, and development and practical application of technology for sewerage, and thereby aim to contribute to the improvement of living environment and preservation of the water quality in public water areas. Chapter II and III lay down provisions relating respectively o the establishment and management of the afore-mentioned Agency. The text consists of 55 articles divided into 8 chapters as follows: General provisions (I); Establishment (II); Management (III); Business (IV); Finance and accounting (V); Supervision (VI); Supplementary provisions (VII); Penal provisions (VIII).
