Abstract In accordance with Decisions 1/CP.19 and 1/CP.20, Israel developed its Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) to contribute to the global effort for achieving the objective of the UNFCCC. The document covers the following sectors (i) electricity generation; (ii) other energy sources; (iii) transportation; (iv) industrial processes; (v) buildings; (vi) waste; and (vii) agriculture. The INDC adopts both (i) mitigation and (ii) adaptation measure to reduce by 2030 its per capita greenhouse gas emissions of 26% below the level in 2005. The mitigation measures will concern (i) energy efficiency foreseeing a 17% reduction in electricity consumption; (ii) 17% of the electricity generated from renewable sources; and (iii) public transport with a 20% shift from private to public transportation.
