The text refers to the Board, Chairperson and Members of the ICT Food Authority, the powers and its functions for setting up and accreditation of food laboratories, sampling and data analysis, promote general awareness as to food safety standards, licensing and registration fee. The text further lays out powers of food safety officers, establishment of food laboratories, offences and penalties for selling food against law, substandard or misbranded food, unsafe food non-hygiene or non-sanitary place for food, false advertisement and business without license. The Act further provides for compensation requirements in case of injury or death to a customer. Food Tribunal has jurisdiction to consider claims about food safety and has authority to investigate in this respect. The Code of Criminal 1898 (Act V of 1898) shall be applicable to the trial of the offences under this Act. The text consists of 47 Articles divided into 7 Chapters.
