Abstract The present Law lays down provisions relating to hunting, game and bird protection. Game and free living birds are to be conserved and, as far as necessary, to be promoted. The living space of game and free living birds shall be conserved and improved whenever possible. Any interference affecting the local countryside shall have to be notified timely to the competent authorities. Article 4 lists protected animals; local authorities and the Cantonal Council may, in order to conserve some species of game, establish reserves where hunting is prohibited. The authorization of the Cantonal Council is necessary in case of game imported from abroad.
